If you are using the original Runway theme (not Runway Pro as seen here), please refer to these setup instructions instead of this page.
Once you have installed Runway, go to Settings->Genesis, and configure the settings.
View a screenshot of the settings for this theme.
As of Genesis 2.1, the Primary Navigation Extras options have been removed for new installs. (upgrades of current installs to 2.1 will not lose the Primary Navigation Extras settings). If you are running a new install and want to add a search form to a navigation menu, view this page.
You can install any or all of the following plugins used on this demo:
- Simple Social Icons
- Genesis Featured Widget Amplified
- jQuery Pin It Button for Images
- Genesis Responsive Slider
- Pinterest RSS Widget
- Regenerate Thumbnails
Simple Social Icons- To set up the simple social icons, you can follow this tutorial. You can use the color codes at the bottom of this page. If you would like to have the double border around your icons as seen on the demo, you will need to edit the plugin: simple-social-icons/css/style.css and add this to ‘.simple-social-icons ul li a’:
border: 4px double #fff !important;
instead of this
border: none !important;
jQuery Pin It Button- Once installed, you will need to upload the pin-it button from the theme images folder, and set it up as seen here by going to settings->jquery pin it, and clicking on the ‘visual’ tab. This demo only has the pin-it button showing up on single posts, however you can customize where it appears by going to settings-> jQuery pin it button.
Genesis Responsive Slider- After you install the slider, go to Genesis> Slider Settings. Configure the settings as seen here. Make sure the images you are using in your posts and for the featured image are at least 750px wide. Recommended size for blog images and slider images are 750px X 500px. To add this slider to your homepage, go to Appearance->Widgets and drag the Genesis Responsive Slider widget to the ‘Slider Widget’ widgetized area.
Pinterest RSS Widget- This is the pinterest widget used in the sidebar of this demo. You can configure it to show pins from a certain board or all boards, as well as adjust the size of the pins. The settings used in this demo are shown in the image to the right.
Regenerate Thumbnails- This plugin will regenerate all thumbnails used for this theme. Custom image sizes are used in a couple of different areas (example: homepage, slider), so it’s a good idea to regenerate all thumbnail images for consistency.
To display the slideshow and grid posts on the homepage, you will need to set up the following widget areas:
Slider Widget- Drag the ‘Genesis Responsive Slider’ widget to this area.
Featured Posts Widget Area- Drag the ‘Genesis Featured Widget Amplified’ to this area, and set it up like this screenshot.
To set up this menu, you will need to create a new menu and assign it to the secondary navigation. To have the the home link like the one on the demo, enter in ‘home-link’ into the CSS Classes box for that menu item. To have other menu items float right, enter in ‘home-right’ for each menu item you want to float right.
The Runway Pro theme comes ready to integrate your own logo while being mobile responsive and displaying beautifully on retina screens. The key to this is to create three different logo sizes. Browse the theme files and open up logo-regular.png, logo-retina.png, and logo-small.png. Replace these files in the /images folder with your own logo adjusted to these dimensions. Now, go to Genesis Settings-> and select ‘Image Logo’ from the Header dropdown and save.
